How We First Met: Nick and Kitty

Nick and Kitty

HOW WE FIRST MET: It was October 2008, my first new job after coming off of consulting and freelancing for the previous 2 years. I started work at a small little marketing agency, called Overdrive Interactive. It was my first day and did the rounds of meeting people and doing the normal first week bullshit, paperwork, learning a 'new system', and so on.

I was put on my first few accounts, myself an Account Supervisor and I was assigned a new Account Coordinator to work with me, Kitty Wong, also the girl who just started not 2 weeks prior. She was a cool, hip chick, I definitely enjoyed talking to her and working with her.

And over the next year and half, we worked together quite a bit, on calls, client work, meetings, staying late at work, etc. And about 8 months after meeting her, things started to feel different. I felt nervous around her, butterflies filled my stomach when I watched her speak. I just wanted to kiss her, she was beautiful inside and out and I thought to myself, man, this is a girl I need to be with.

Meanwhile, when we first met I was still with my Ex-girlfriend who lived in a different part of the country and that was falling apart, she was there for support and when I needed to talk. Things ended with the Ex-Girlfriend about 4 months before September 2009, labor day to be exact.

The day before we hung out, I had to stop at IKEA, after that we were like, hey, let's catch a movie - ice cream, movie, it wasn't supposed to be a date, but at the end of it, we thought, 'did we just have a date'. When she left the car, it was awkward, both of us wanting to surrender to each other, but with we worried because we worked together, was this right and/or OK to do?

She invited me to a Labor Day party she had the next day at her place in Beacon Hill (Boston, MA). I showed up, she was a little tipsy, being 5'0'' it doesn't take much for her to feel that way. She pulled my arm into the bathroom and it was there we told each other how we felt, it was perfect. Although, no kissing yet...she felt strange after it was all let out, and what would happen next. Later that night, I returned at 1:30 AM, we walked to a park up the street from her house, and started to swing on the swing set. It was there we talked more about things, and then all of sudden we ended up tearing each other apart on the sand, resisting not to rip each other's clothes off right there in public. A 4 hour make-out/deep coddling session turned into daylight, and 6:30 a.m; where we then kissed goodbye and I would return that night.

We didn't care, i knew 6 months before that moment I loved her and wanted to be with her. And now, more than a year and half later, we moved to San Francisco together, and now we're married.

We love our story, technically I was her boss, she was my employee, but I couldn't resist falling in love with the perfect woman.
