Sally was there with a group of Chevron Accounting Department folks whom were throwing a birthday celebration for one of their co-workers, whom was a long time friend of Sally.
Vince was in attendance to support his pal Barry, the Guest DJ for the evening, whom specializes in Punk Rock Music, and whom was invited there to spin some classic punk tunes for a few hours.
However there was a problem with this scenario, as no one in the entire establishment liked Punk Rock music except for the DJ, so the evening quickly turned into painful drudgery, with ear piercing punk music blaring through the smoke filled darkness, and not one person on the vacant dance floor, as everyone was hunkered down in their shadowy booths trying to weather the onslaught of horrific music bludgeoning their senses.
The group Sally was partying with started getting drunker and more agitated by the music, and had her go up to the DJ on several occasions to respectfully request a change of tunes to something that people could dance to and have a good time...for example some Funk, Salsa, or even Disco Music...anything else but the nails on the chalkboard punk rock he kept playing.
DJ Barry was not hearing any of it, stating he was brought in to play Punk Rock, and did not care if the crowd liked it or not.
Since Sally was getting no where with the DJ, she than noticed Vince leaning against the wall next to the DJ Booth, arms crossed and motionless like a statue, and figured that he might be someone affiliated with the DJ whom she could reason with better.
Sally approached Vince and asked "Hey, are you the bodyguard of the DJ? If so, tell him to change this rotten music so people can start dancing, otherwise we're going to have a drunken mutiny go down soon"!
Little did Sally know that Vince was just as bored and tired of the music as she was, and her charming coaxing was all it took to motivate him to march straight up to his pal the DJ and tell him, there's a pretty gal whom wants to dance with me, so change this music up fast, as I don't want to miss my chance to meet her!
Stubbornly, the DJ finally put different music on, and that's when Sally and Vince shared their first dance, immediately having an instant connection, chatting and dancing until she had to depart with her friends, and so they exchanged numbers and had their first date a week later.
Fourteen years later, we are still #1 dance partners, and still can't stand Punk Rock Music!
