HOW WE FIRST MET: It is hard to define our meeting as a moment, as it was more of a process. A long and confusing process that diverged into how we became us. I'm from St Louis, and she's from San Francisco. Technically we first met in an elevator,Tokyo 2009. She had just finished her interview, and we said hi. She got the job at my same company, we said hi a few more times, then she quit.
We both ended up with new jobs in SF, which is where we became good friends. Good friends who weren't attracted to each other, which worked out well. It all changed when Eventbrite hosted a wild open bar party. The next morning when we woke up, I was smitten, and she was embarrassed. After she left, my mind started planning the next 10 years of our lives. However, year 1 didn't go as planned.
I took her to a world series game, I struck out. I took her for ice cream, she played it cool. I professed my love, she joined match.com. We went on bike rides and city strolls, but somehow she kept it platonic. This went on for 386 days... My right hand became my right hand man.
I was her go-to-man when she needed advice and someone to talk to. Apparently I was also her go-to-man when she was inebriated and needed a go-to-man. Great! Everything fell into place the night my St Louis cardinals won the world series. After the game, we went to a Grand Marnier cognac tasting. I paid a witch for the Cards to win. Seems like the witch had put a love spell on her, because after that night we were inseparable and in love.
